Tena koutou katoa. Our voyage has got off to a great start. The team are doing great leaping off the side in the dark, learning about climbing and sailing. We have ventured out into Pēwhairangi (The Bay of Islands) and at Motu Arohia for the night. Although it's wet and some have suffered a little sea sickness everyone is making the best of it and settling in well.

Wow! this voyage is racing by. The troops have bonded really well. Since Motu Arohia we headed around Cape Brett and Motu Kokako/the hole in the rock down to Whangaruru. the passage was a rolly one and some were super grateful for the sea sick meds issued the night before. Yesterday we set sail early for Aotea/Great Barrier Island making a stop at Aorangi Islands/Poor Nights en-route. The weather got pretty wild in the afternoon which the team loved.

Ata marie ki te whanau me nga hoa katoa. We have had a lovely few days anchored in Port Fitzroy, Aotea, Great Barrier Island. The team spent a day enjoying a hikoi up the mountain named Hirakimata (translated to -where lightening strikes the cliff) which is a very cool name. Yesterday every-one climbed our mast and spent the day exploring port Fitzroy in our little luggers (small sailing boats). Today we set sail again, sending a shout out and acknowledging the local iwi Ngatiwai and Ngati Rehua, we have loved our time at their beautiful island... next destination Kawau Island.
