Hankering to re-live your spirit voyage or always wanted to sail with us? This one is for you! We’re going on a sailing mission from Tauranga for an epic 3-night adventure. This is open to anyone 18 years and over.
COVID has thrown us a few curve balls and so we’re turning a cancelled voyage into an opportunity for participants over 18 years to experience a taste of our voyages. If you've been a trainee before, maybe think about gathering some trainees from your original voyage and re-live the adventure!
The Spirit of New Zealand is designed for Youth Development Voyages – we are not a cruise ship. If you haven't sailed before, you're in for a treat. You essentially become part of the crew, this ship does not sail itself! But don't worry, our crew are there to help guide you and get the most from this unique experience. You do not need any prior experience – just enthusiasm.

We strongly suggest that if bringing a camera on board, you equip yourself with a dry bag for the safe keeping of your camera – please remember you are within a wet environment. Please bring your camera charger with batteries.
Please don't bring it with you. We have an ample supply of various sea sickness medication in the unlikely event that you need it. For safety reasons, we record and administer it, so we know who has taken it and can monitor you.
Fishing gear and dive equipment is not permitted on board.
Every voyage is different and it will often depend on weather. We have a live ship tracker on the home page of our website, so make sure you tell your friends and family to keep an eye on where you are!
Most of our voyages are unisex. All activities are done as a team, but we do have separate living areas and bathrooms for male and female paticipants (20 on each side of the ship). More info ->
The ship operates around the New Zealand coast throughout the year and may sometimes be away from immediate medical support (the ship's crew are fully trained in marine first aid). We have specific 'Medically Fit' criteria for each voyage type which you will find when you start your booking. If you have any concerns or questions, please get in touch with us to discuss.
For each voyage type, there are some medical and general criteria that you will need to meet. These vary depending on the voyage type that you will find on the specific voyage page on our website. If you have any queries around this, we encourage you to give us a call to discuss. Visit one of our voyages to find out more ->
Our home port is Princes Wharf in down town Auckland, but we do at times travel around the country. Check out the schedule for specific dates and location of ports.
