Steering Spirit of Adventure Trust in a figurative more than literal sense, CEO Bruce Pilbrow leads the organisation with a high level of energy and passion for our mission 'To empower young New Zealanders to reach their full potential through the challenge of the sea'.
He is passionate about improving New Zealand's poor youth statistics and works with the Spirit team to enhance the voyage experience and promote the positive outcomes of what this opportunity gives to the young people of Aotearoa.
In order to operate almost 360 days a year, the ship essentially has two core crews. Spirit’s professional and highly experienced crews are made up of permanent members and volunteers. The crew are responsible for delivering an exceptional time on board for our young people.
Collectively they have broad experience that provide us with the perfect balance of nautical expertise alongside a passion for delivery of our effective youth development programme.
We're always looking for volunteers to join the Spirit family and there are many roles available.
A multi-disciplinary group dedicated to enabling the magic on board the ship to happen and to ensure the whole experience runs smoothly for everyone. From talking to schools, planning voyages, fundraising, marketing, ship logistics and maintenance to everything in between this team do it all.
