Who is eligible for the Topgallant award?
A volunteer or supporter who has given consistent outstanding service for more than 5 years.
Who is eligible for the topsail award?
A volunteer under the age of 24 who has given outstanding service over 2 years completing at least 20 days of service.
Who is eligible for the Chairperson’s Lifetime Achievement Award?
This can be awarded to past staff, volunteers, and board members and recognises outstanding ongoing contribution to the Trust over a sustained long period of time.
How will award nominations be made?
The ship and shore crew will nominate volunteers for the awards based on a list of eligible candidates. The ship crew in particular are the ones who know and sail with our volunteers so are well placed to make nominations. The awards will be presented to the winners at a time arranged specifically with them.
Will there be an annual awards ceremony?
Not anymore. Whilst it was a nice opportunity to celebrate, it was a costly event to the Trust and one that wasn’t accessible to all our volunteers across the country.
Can I keep my “years service” badges?
Of course and you can continue to wear them with pride and add the new days of service badges alongside them.
Who can nominate someone for the Lou & Iris scholarship?
Nominations can be received from:
Paid employees who have been with the Trust for more than 2 years
Relief crew & Active Volunteers for have done more than 20 days of service, over a 2 year period
Nominations will open once a year and be communicated via email.
How will the scholarship be awarded?
A committee will review all nominations. The successful recipient will be chosen on the basis of the most deserving story chosen by the committee. Name of the nominee and nominated person will be made anonymous during the selection process.
