Captain's Log: Day 1

Log: 4/6

The ship is alive with the sounds of excitement as the trainees settle into their bunks, meet their ship mates and find their way around the ship. We have decided to stay safely moored alongside the wharf tonight due to the weather that is forecasted. This however doesn't make any difference to our voyage as we can do lots of learning while tied up and then put it into practice tomorrow morning when we depart with calmer seas.

Captain's Log: Day 2

Log: 5/6

Even with the wet and windy weather we had a great night alongside, learning to climb the rigging and getting to know our fellow shipmates. We departed just after 8am this morning with blue sky and calm sea, heading to Te Kouma, Coromandel.

Captain's Log: Day 4

Log: 7/6

Yesterday was another action packed day onboard. We sailed across the Hauraki Gulf, from Coromandel Harbour to Kawau Island, saw marine life, rainbows, squalls, We learnt how to put up some more sails, tie knots and played games on deck. It has been a cold day but with lots of yummy kai in our tummies we were fuelled for adventure.

After only 4 days onboard the routine and community life at sea is feeling like the new norm, so much so that when the trainees went ashore yesterday we heard some say WOW civilisation!
The sun is shining as we clean the ship, including scrubbing the decks, ready for todays activities. We will make the most of our last full day onboard with our ship mates.

The adventure is nearly over but the experiences will be with us forever. As we make our way back to Princes Wharf we get to hang out with our new friends one last time. It has been awesome and hopefully there are friendships formed for life. Safe travels home everyone. See you again sometime. Ka kite ano.
