Captain's Log: Day 2

Log: 15/6

Kia ora e hoa ma, Voyage 920 is well underway. We are starting to learn the ship routines and getting to know one another. As the saying goes, strangers are just friends we have not yet met. This morning started with a refreshing swim. We are all looking forward to climbing the rig and getting into some good sailing this afternoon.

Captain's Log: Day 3

Log: 16/6

Day three has started off cool and crisp with clear skies. Yesterday we had our first sail and even threw in a tack to start off our learning how to be salty sailors. Friendships are forming and everyone seems to be getting into the spirit of life onboard. Today has plenty more fun and adventure in stall.

Captain's Log: Day 4

Log: 17/6

4 days in we have had 3 morning swims, experienced 2 sail stations and had 1 exciting wildlife encounter! We have climbed up the mast, paddled the rafts and played lots of silly games. Yesterday included an awesome beach excursion bootcamp with some healthy inter-watch competition. Today we look ahead to a sail to Aotea, Great Barrier Island!

Captain's Log: Day 6

Log: 19/6

Mōrena, yesterday was a beautiful bluebird day on Aotea alas no wind. So our program guru created a cunning plan. Instead of trying to pretend to sail we got into some mahi aroha to help out a local conservation group on Aotea in the morning and some aquatic adventures in the afternoon. It's gearing up to be a great day!

Morale is high. Today is looking like a great day for a hīkoi in the ngahere and really get to appreciate more of this amazing motu.

Captain's Log: Day 8

Log: 21/6

Today we climbed to the highest heights and touched the flag at the top of the mast. We then set sail in the little lugger sailing boats. With minimal wind we enjoyed a calm and relaxing float around Port Fitzroy (with lots of singing!). In the evening we paddled to Smokehouse Bay for dinner ashore. We sat around the campfire playing guitar, singing songs and toasting marshmallows. An awesome paddle back to the ship included star gazing in the sky as well as making stars in the water (amazing bioluminescent!).

Captain's Log: Day 9

Log: 22/6

Yesterday we had a nice sail back from Aotea towards the mainland. Spotted some cool wildlife along the way. Last night had a awesome mission ashore under starlight. Today we have been doing a number of tacks to hone up our skills leading to trainee day

Captain's Log: Day 10

So that's it, V920 has come to an end. Yesterday the troops had an awesome trainee day. Great to see them all working well together and pitching in to get the mahi done.
Friendships have formed and lots of amazing experiences and learning, no doubt it will be an emotional time on the wharf
