Voyage 927B is underway!
We cast off the lines at 1600 and made our way through the Tamaki Strait to the beautiful Man O’ War Bay on the eastern end of Waiheke Island. Along the way, trainees played games to learn each other’s names, get comfortable working with new people, and start forming friendships.
After a stunning sunset and a peaceful night at anchor, we awoke to glassy waters for our first morning swim, followed by a hearty breakfast and the start of today’s adventure.

After a morning of learning to climb the rigging and handle the ropes, we set sail and headed out into the Firth of Thames. There was absolutely no wind, so as we drifted along with the sails set and the sun shining down, we jumped over the side for a refreshing swim - what an amazing feeling! We spent last night anchored off Rotoroa Island, enjoying plenty of fun and games with our shipmates.

We awoke to calm seas and beautiful sunshine glistening off a sandy beach, so we blew up the rafts and paddled ashore for beach games and a run around. In the afternoon, we set sail, catching the steady southwest 25-knot winds for a wonderful sail across the Hauraki Gulf to Kawau Bay. Evenings onboard are always full of fun, and last night’s activity combined wild egg-flying challenges and creative scripts fostering teamwork, creativity and craziness.

The trainees enjoyed rafting ashore to Mansion House Bay on beautiful Kawau Island yesterday morning. They walked across to the old Copper Mine before returning to the ship for lunch. The afternoon was spent at anchor with a pool party and climbs to the top of the mast - all in all, a fun-filled day in the sun!
