Captains log 22 February

Log: 23/2

A recap from the past 2 days. Collected young trainees and their older halves and left Princess Wharf late afternoon, sails set, calm seas and heading north. Lots of mingling and getting aclimatised en route to evening arrival at Mahurangi, where trainees volunteered a relatively early night. Back on deck at 6.30 in the morning, the sun came up as we finished the morning swim. Motored to Moturekreka where we moored in a beautiful bay, climbed the mast, snorkeled around a submerged wreck and played nutters on the rope swim. All happy here.

In the afternoon yesterday the trainees swapped: climbers snorkelled and snorkelers climbed. Nearly all proudly touched the top of the mast. Some fun was had on deck before a full dinner of lamb chops, mint sauce and choc self saucing pudding was served. Later in the evening our teams competed a hilarious game Pictionary play dough. Then lights out by 9.30pm.
On day three we swam in some very warm water, the trainees are settling into the rhythm of morning colours, cleaning and then the request went up to set all sails so we did! (almost...) We had a lovely run back south, lots of station swapping so everyone got their hands on all the lines. We are now heading for Motuihe Island for a swim.
