Log: 07 OCTOBER

Day 4 on The Spirit of Adventure! We sailed 22 miles without the engine from Port Jackson to Great Barrier Island under a cloud of canvas. The weather was absolutely perfect and we were fortunate to be joined by a some more sea mamals for part of the journey. We finished off the day by bringing out the rope swing for some backflips (and flops). Looking forward to another day of fun with the voyage #949 family - Maddie and Mina

We had a pretty awesome day yesterday. After cleanup we set sail, headed North to Port Jackson, Te Tara-o-te-Ika-a-Maui. On arrival we were welcomed by some more sea mamals before heading ashore for some beach games in the shadow of Te Wharekaiatua pā.
It was a big day and our people are throwing themselves into the adventure!

Day 3 and the team are doing amazing. Yesterday we sailed North of Waiheke and down into the Tikapa Moana (Firth of Thames) anchoring in the lee of Motu Pōnui for the night. On the way we had some hands on experience getting the sails up and down, as well as having a go at climbing the rigging. These guys are jelling really well and are full of good vibes.
Ps we got visited by some sea mammals yesterday!

Morena whanau, our rangatahi have settled in and we're off to a great start. The 1st day or so of the voyage is about getting to know each other and learning how to keep ourselves safe while onboard. Last night we anchored off Motu Tapu to shelter from a chilly Sou'easter. At 0630 it was "Up on deck in your togs" and we had our first morning swim. It was a cold one. The team had a hearty breakfast and are getting stuck into cleanup before getting into today's adventures.
