Where to find the ship

What to pack

You will be joining a voyage with school groups of 5 or 10 from across the country. A total of 40 students all up.

Groups are made up of 10 from each school plus a teacher or 5 from each school with no teacher. School groups who come as a cohort of 5 will be assigned a Spirit of Adventure crew member to look after the group during the voyage. As a team the students will enjoy a learning experience like no other that guarantees challenge, adventure, creativity and reward.

Activities in the programme include ship-handling, teamwork, problem-solving, debating, and water sports (in and on the water). Students go ashore and complete tasks and enjoy competitive games that involve ingenuity, leadership and fun.

Once on board:
For teachers, bedding is supplied and you will be shown to your accommodation by one of the crew. On board your key point of contact for any queries is the First Mate who you will be introduced to when you board the ship.
We have 6 permanent crew and up to 6 volunteers on board who are all there to help make the voyage exceptional for all, any of them are happy to help.

For students traveling by private car to meet their school group at the ship, they will need to arrange their own parking and make their way to the ship.

Short Term Parking in Auckland:
We do not have offsite parking available. Auckland Transport website outlines the options available in Auckland CBD. You may want to consider having the group dropped off and picked up by another driver.

Please ensure you complete our travel form to let us know how you will be travelling to and from the ship. If your group or any members of your group are running late please call us 09 373 2060.

Someone is sick or injured:
If someone cancels their place in your schools group at any time, for whatever reason, the school will need to get in touch to advise us, so that we can update the schools booking.

If a student is cancelling because of illness or injury, we recommend you ask them to provide you with a medical certificate. Providing a refund to the student, will be at the discretion of your school and is dependent on the school finding a replacement student/participant for the voyage.

Potential refunds will need to be discussed with the school and the teacher in charge of coordinating the Voyage; the school manages this process having been invoiced in full as a group.

We have a ship camera and GoPro and will take photo’s throughout the voyage. You will receive a share the link after the voyage. We do recommend that you bring your own camera (digital, polaroid, GoPro) to use for your own schools enjoyment.

Merchandise is available for purchase online. Processing takes 5 days and if you place your order before the voyage departs, in most cases we can arrange for your order ready for collection before departure or on your return. Check out our merch here.

Use of Phones on board:
You’ll be asked to collect the students phones and any valuables after boarding. As such, we ask that you use your phone in the privacy of your room/accommodation.
There is a wifi password that the crew will supply you, we appreciate that you may need to be in touch for the school.
