What to pack

WHAT TO EXPECT:

You will be joining a voyage with school groups of 5 or 10 from across the country. A total of 40 students all up.

Groups are made up of 10 from each school plus a teacher or 5 from each school with no teacher. School groups who come as a cohort of 5 will be assigned a Spirit of Adventure crew member to look after the group during the voyage. As a team the students will enjoy a learning experience like no other that guarantees challenge, adventure, creativity and reward.

Activities in the programme include ship-handling, teamwork, problem-solving, debating, and water sports (in and on the water). Students go ashore and complete tasks and enjoy competitive games that involve ingenuity, leadership and fun.

Once on board:
For teachers, we supply linen (pillow, sheets, duvet, towels) and you will be shown to your accommodation by one of the crew. You are more than welcome to bring your own duvet/sleeping bag, towels or additional blanket if you choose. We will also provide you with towels to use onboard the ship, however you may want to bring a beach towel for use at other times.

On board your key point of contact for any queries is the First Mate who you will be introduced to when you board the ship. We have 6 permanent crew and up to 6 volunteers on board who are all there to help make the voyage exceptional for all, any of them are happy to help.
If you'd like to familiarise yourself with the layout of the ship before arrival, you can have a look around using our virtual tour here.

ILLNESS OR INJURY

Someone is sick or injured:
If someone cancels their place in your schools group at any time, for whatever reason, the school will need to get in touch to advise us, so that we can update the schools booking.

If a student is cancelling because of illness or injury, we recommend you ask them to provide you with a medical certificate. Providing a refund to the student, will be at the discretion of your school and is dependent on the school finding a replacement student/participant for the voyage.

Potential refunds will need to be discussed with the school and the teacher in charge of coordinating the Voyage; the school manages this process having been invoiced in full as a group.
